The publishers of U.S. News & World Report and The Best Lawyers in America have included McFarland PLLC in the 2020 “Best Law Firms” rankings for Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law for the Houston metropolitan area. Rankings are based on a rigorous evaluation process that includes the collection of client and lawyer evaluations as well as peer reviews from leading attorneys in the field.  Firms included in the 2020 “Best Law Firms” list are recognized for professional excellence with persistently impressive ratings from clients and peers, achieving a tiered ranking signals a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal expertise.

To earn eligibility for the “Best Law Firms” ranking, a firm must have at least one attorney recognized in the 2020 Edition of Best Lawyers.  Mr. McFarland was recognized earlier this year as a 2020 “Lawyer of the Year” in Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law for Houston, Texas.

The founding member of McFarland PLLC, Charles McFarland focuses his practice exclusively on representing property owners in eminent domain and condemnation litigation. He is well-known throughout Texas for his fierce advocacy of landowners and his skill and experience in the courtroom.  McFarland is the Texas Representative of the Owners’ Counsel of America, a nationwide network of leading condemnation attorneys dedicated to representing property owners threatened with eminent domain and property rights issues.  His clients include private individuals as well as retail, commercial, and industrial landowners threatened by public use projects such as road and highway improvements, pipelines, transmission lines and flood control projects. In addition to his trial practice, he has handled appeals of condemnation cases and other matters in the First, Fourth, Sixth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, Thirteenth, and Fourteenth Courts of Appeals and in the Texas Supreme Court.
